The Meaning of Skookum

5/26/2015

Greetings from Homer, Alaska!

Why am I calling my new blog "skookum"? It's a Pacific Northwest Indian word for brave, well-built and reliable. It's the name of my boat and a word that I've always been partial to. Skookum Blog is a look at life in Alaska, focusing on Kachemak Bay, the beautiful body of water in Homer, Alaska where Ruth and I live.

It's a chance for me to talk about what's going on in our little "Cosmic Hamlet by the Sea", our daily lives, and those meaningful things that happen out of the blue. I hope you enjoy.
